How to find mentors?

Everyone has a dream and having a role model. What about a mentor?

What is the difference between the two? Why you need a mentor? How can you find it?

We perceive a role model as a goal. We are like fans of that particular role model like how “Elon Musk” is for many of the millennials.

A mentor is a person with whom we can communicate and get advice and every aspect of our lives. For most people mentors will be their professors, managers, and bosses.

I stole the idea from the book “Steal like an artist”. Where the author Austin Kleon says that you can get any person as your mentor, you don’t need to meet him not even once.

How?

That is by reading their books, watching their films, watching their interviews. When you complete that particular person's entire work you will create him inside you. Your mindset shift more like him.

There is one condition. The person you want to be your mentor should have left his work.

For example, Elon Musk hasn’t produced any material where he carved his thoughts. He only built dozens of companies. In this case, you cannot emulate the Elon Musk inside you easily. But you can do it by watching his interviews and following his advice.

The idea is to select one person and study him fully. When you finish, you would have emulated that person successfully into you.

Like this, you can go on study different people. Make sure you select one person and study him completely.

There are so many historical figures like Cleopatra, Neapolitan, Alexandor, Edison, Tesla, Henry Ford.

Currently, I am so obsessed with the author “Robert Greene”. So I started to read his entire book starting with ’48 Laws of Power’. Hopefully, I will master his work by this year 2021.
